Virginia’s Northern and Valley Regions |
Project: State Lead Program
Services Provided:
- Site Investigations
- Remedial Action Plans
- Remediation Design
- System Implementation
TEC is a Virginia State Lead Contractor in both the Northern and Valley regions to assess, characterize, respond, and remediate petroleum-impacted sites where a responsible party is not readily identifiable. Under contract with the DEQ since 2004, TEC has performed numerous site characterizations involving direct-push soil and groundwater sampling, contaminant plume delineation, environmental risk assessments, emergency response actions (sorbent boom placement in surface waters, soil excavation, vapor monitoring), and remediation system design and installation. Remediation techniques have included bioremediation, chemical oxidation, groundwater pumping and air stripping, and excavation. |
| Maryland Transit Administration (MTA) — Baltimore, MD |
Project: Bush Bus Maintenance Facility
Services Provided:
- Construction Management
- UST Removal Services
- UST Installation Services
- Petroleum Contaminated Soil Excavation
TEC conducted demolition and decommissioning activities associated with the removal of 6 USTs (4 – 20,000 gallon tanks, a 10,000 gallon tank & a 4,000 gallon tank) and replacement with 5 new 20,000 gallon underground storage tanks located at the Bush Street Maintenance facility. All tank related appurtenances were required to be rated for ethanol storage. Heavily impacted hydrocarbon contaminated soil and free-phase diesel fuel were discovered near the groundwater table. TEC coordinated with the Maryland Department of the Environment (MDE) to identify the extent of grossly impacted soils that were removed and transported to a permitted disposal facility. |
